Writer Tina McCulloch and director PJ Hammond had both seen her stunning performance as a doomed Edwardian-era bride in The Drowning Girls for Alumnae Theatre Company in November 2012. Then Tina happened to run into Jen on the subway in March 2014, and impulsively asked her to audition. At the time, Patricia Chica was going to be the director, and we were applying for BravoFACT funding, aiming to shoot that fall.
Tina sent Jen the first 4 pages of script, and Jen wrote back:
“honestly.
so.
in.
love.
with.
this.
script.” Way to a writer’s heart!
